Melbourne Renegades

Melbourne Renegades was founded in 2011. The Victorian State is proud to have their capital city team Melbourne Renegades.  The team has its home ground in Etihad Stadium and the Kit Colour of the team is Red. Melbourne Renegades played its 1st match against Adelaide Strikers in 2011 at Adelaide Oval.

The famous Australian Professional Master Blaster Aaron Finch is the Captain of the team and the coach is David Saker. In Big Bash League season 2012-2013  Finch scored 332 runs at an amazing average of 66.40. Aaron has declared as the best batsman of the season.

  • Andrew McDonald
  • Simon Helmot

respectively.

The feature international players of the 1st session of Renegades were Pakistani stars Shahid Afridi and Abdul Razzaq. Though it was not an easy start for Renegades as they trashed in their first season, only winning two games against the Sydney Thunder and the Sydney Sixers respectively. The key elements of the 1st season were smashing 259 runs of Aaron Finch & 10 wicket mark of Pakistani superstar Shahid Afraid.

Season 2012-2013 was the star year for Renegades with the addition of Ben Rohrer, Peter Nevill and Spin Legend Muttiah Muralitharan. The team performed wonderfully in this season as the team ended the season on top of the ranking.  Renegades ended the season by losing to Brisbane Heat in the semi-final.

In 2013-2014 Renegades could manage to win only 3 matches. Also in the upcoming seasons the team couldn’t perform very well and is yet seeking its way to enter into the semis as the seasons 2014-2015 & 2015-2016 were quite disappointment seasons where team seized 5th & 6th Spot. Looking forward to see the Renegades in action in the 2017-2018 edition of KFC Big Bash League.
