Hobart Hurricanes

Hobart Hurricanes is a team of Tasmania state and is named at the capital city of the state, Hobart.  The team has its home ground in Blundstone Arena, uTAS Stadium and the Jersey Colour of the team is Purple.

Hobart Hurricanes played its 1st match against Perth Scorchers in 2011 at WACA, and defeated the home team in their 1st encounter. The famous Australian Professional Master Blaster George Bailey is the Captain of the team and the coach is South African Opening batsman Gary Kirsten

The pioneer Captain & Coach of the team were Tim Paine and Allister de Winter respectively. The key players for Hurricanes are George BaileyDaniel ChristianTim Paine and Tymal Mills.

The Hobart Hurricanes’ inaugural coach was Allister de Winter and their inaugural captain was Tim Paine.

It was the kind of start that every team dream off. In their 1st Appearance of the 1st session i.e. 2011 Hurricanes grabbed their 1st win against Perth Scorchers. Hurricanes is regarded is one of the most consistent team of the KFC Big Bash League as this team has played the most semis of the of tournament.

The upcoming seasons were no exception to their previous ones as in 2012-2013 Hurricanes participated in 8 matches and grabbed 4 wins and lost 4 matches. This was quite disappointing season as they ended up the season at 6th Place.

In Season 2013-2014 Hobart Hurricane comeback to roll the show and defeated Stars in the Semi-Finals to reach the FINAL where Perth Scorchers who ended up their campaign for 2013-2014 where they beat them by 39 runs. This was the 1st time that Hurricanes ended up as RUNNERS-UP which is so far, their best performance.

Season 2014-2015 was the huge disappointment for Hurricanes where they could only manage to conquest just 3 matches They only managed to win 3 games in the 2014-15 season and ended up 5th on the table.

Looking forward to see the Hurricanes in action in the 2017-2018 edition of KFC Big Bash League.
